As mentioned in that last article, our design process usually kickstarts with a Discovery Call, a key player in determining if we are “design soulmates” and paving the way for the next step: the power-packed In-Home Consultation.

This consultation is where dreams of the perfect space start taking shape in the real world and marks the crucial transition from envisioning your ideal space to bringing it to life. This consultation allows us to begin the steps to turn those dreams of being surrounded by beauty in your home into reality!

The Information-Gathering Consultation

This consultation type is for our Signature Service: Full-Service Interior Design and always follows the Discovery call if we find we are a good fit.

Following the Discovery Call, we proceed by arranging an in-person or virtual meeting to delve deeper into project specifics, visually inspect the location, and establish rapport with potential clients to ensure alignment.

This collaborative session aids in outlining a detailed project plan and estimating design costs. Depending on the circumstances, this consultation may be complimentary or involve a fee.

Upon the conclusion of the information-gathering meeting, we formulate an overview of the potential design plan, design fee estimation, and Design Agreement for the client's review and consideration, ultimately aiming to solidify the relationship from prospective to engaged client.

This step serves as the foundation for a successful interior design project, imparting clarity and direction to the creative process.

What happens after the information-gathering consultation?

Because we have already determined how our clients wish to work with us during the Discovery Call prior to this consultation, we then send a Design Fee Proposal shortly after we meet, detailing the project scope, design fees, and terms and conditions.

This is the initial agreement for a full-service project and if the client agrees and is prepared to proceed, a 50% fee advance on the design fees is necessary to commence the design work.

Here at MLI we provide this service as a standalone offering, allowing our clients to tap into our expertise for tailored and unique design solutions. This engagement serves as a condensed dose of design insights, ideal for those seeking guidance without committing to a full-scale project.

Typically lasting no more than 90 minutes, these sessions offer concise and impactful interactions.

Following this design consultation, we may provide you with a list of studio-curated items for purchase or you can go it alone, and if you need help with more spaces, schedule as many of these DesignRx Consultations as your little heart desires!
